Adoption
Adoption has been part of our human experience probably since our beginnings, but certainly as written code since the 18th century BC. The Code of Hammurabi is the earliest to survive with clear definitions of adoption. Although mother's are the carrier of a fetus they do not own and thus may not place the child for adoption without notice to the father. However, it takes work on the part of the father to enforce his rights. As you explore these pages you will find information relating to custody rights of parents and rights of adoptees.
